How does media shape the world?
The world in which we are living is getting complicated day by day. Dwelling in the hub of technology makes us clever and witty. In bygone days, the world was not that much convoluted. Then with the passage of time, humans invented some stunning things and add complex advancements to the world. In such a situation how does media shape the world? Technological advancements changed the shape of the globe.
Additionally, in ancient times, there weren’t any perfect tools to communicate. However, with the passage of time, sending letters became common. People used to send letters to their loved ones in order to get aware of them. Recently, within mini seconds one can spread a message across the globe.
The dominant era of media
Media is one of the influential bodies in the current era. This very media has changed the entire structure of the world. It has influenced our thoughts and behaviors on a large scale. Almost, every person is directly connected to media. We consult media and it influences our thoughts.
Further, first there used to be print media, which brought a greater revolution at the time immemorial. People used to inform others through print media. This was considered the most outstanding invention of that time. It was having a deep impact on humans’ minds.
Besides, then came electronic media. With the invention of the radio and TV, the world changed completely. People started seeing others on TV. Indeed, that was an outstanding and revolutionary invention. The political parties used to record their speeches in order to persuade the common folks.
Nowadays, socials media has a great influence on us. The aforementioned two kinds were the ones, in which humans were receivers. However, with the addition of social media, humans themselves became senders and receivers. One can post anything at any time through social media. Everyone gets news on the spot. We are directly connected and the world has become a global village.
Unluckily, this very media, which we think of highly useful, is the most dangerous. First there used to be simple products and a simple lifestyle. But, media changed our tastes of life. There is nothing in the world which media doesn’t show us on TV and social media. Almost everything is embedded in advertisements. Thus, we have made our life difficult because instead to fulfilling our basics needs (food clothes, shelter), we go for luxuries.
Even, this simple example is going to benefit you. For instance, take the example of the washroom. The products which we use in the washroom (Toothpaste, brush, soap, shampoo, towels and so on) are also part of the media. We learned all these things from the media. First, there used to be simple food and drinks, now media guided us that blah blah drinks are better than the one we made at home. Owning to its extra protocol we buy it at a high price. Which not just adds a dent to our pockets but ruins our health.
To sum up, the language of media has inclined us so much. What influential bodies say, we follow. What media present, we do. Instead of critically examine our own needs and values, we are so much in these media kinds of things. Besides, we don’t question things. Rather, we accept things blindly.
