Johasoon provoking action against Disney Plus
Famous American actress Scarlett Johansson has decided to file a lawsuit against media and entertainment. After her new film ‘BlackWood’, the company Disney was released for online streaming while it was being screened in theaters.
According to the AFP news agency. The actress has accused Disney of violating the contract, which has cost her millions of dollars.
The Film releases against rules
According to a lawsuit filed in the Los Angeles High Court on Thursday, Scarlett Johansson was to receive a portion of the box office earnings for Marvel’s film “Blackwood.”
The film was going to release on the big screen last year. But it was delayed several times due to the coronavirus. The film was released in theaters this month and simultaneously on Disney’s online streaming service Disney Plus.
The Views of analyets
Box office analysts say that the film has not received as much acceptance in cinemas as Marvel’s films usually do due to its availability on an online streaming service.
In just three weeks, the film has grossed only $150 million in local cinemas.
Scarlett Johansson’s lawyer, John Berlinsky, told AFP in a statement: “It’s no secret that Disney is releasing movies like Blackwood live on Disney Plus to increase the number of users and the company’s shares.
Disney Plus frequent violations
The actress’ lawyer added that this would not be the last time that Hollywood actors would stand up against Disney and make people believe that it is their legal responsibility to abide by the contract no matter what the company says.
A Disney spokesman, who also owns Marvel Studios, denied the allegations. “He told AFP” that Disney had not violated any contract and that “there is no merit in filing this lawsuit.”
He added, “The case is particularly frustrating because it ignores the long-term effects of the coronavirus.
