Rawalpindi (Galaxytechnospace) October 21, 2021): A woman has raped in Rawalpindi metro underpass. According to Dawn News, a woman was allegedly sexually abused in the underpass of a metro bus in the Rehmanabad area of Rawalpindi. I saw a job advertisement in Boyer Hostel on the Facebook account of the accused and informed my brother about it.
Her brother contacted the accused after which she went to Rawalpindi with her aunt. According to the FIR, the accused first took the victim to a boys’ hostel where she was physically abused and later metro. She was taken to the underpass and abused.
According to the report, the victim has been medically examined. DNA samples of the accused and the plaintiff have been taken and their report is awaited.
The police investigating officer said that the accused was arrested immediately after the woman filed an application. The accused is a student of information technology in a private university.
Punjab police tweeted on social networking site Twitter. He said that a case of this incident has been registered and the main accused has been arrested while further legal action is being taken.
A similar incident took place last week. An 18-year-old girl was allegedly raped on the M4 motorway with the help of two female accused. An FIR was registered by the police. According to the FIR, Iram, a resident of Garden Town, was called to Gojra after being offered a job at a boutique.
Pakistan’s rape laws
In Pakistan, rape is a punishable offense. The definition and punishment for this crime are detailed under Sections 375 and 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
According to the law, a man is said to commit rape when he has sexual intercourse with a woman under circumstances falling under any of the five following descriptions:
- Against her will
- Without her consent
- With her consent, when the consent has been obtained by putting her in fear of death or of hurt
- With her consent, when the man knows that he is not married to her and that the consent is given because she believes that the man is another person to whom she is or believes herself to be married; or
- With or without her consent when she is under 16 years of age.
The convicted rapists will be sentenced to jail for no less than 10 years or more than 25 years, according to the law. A fine will also be imposed on them.
